Dr Ruth graduated with an MB.BS in 1953.
Since 1954, she has performed an increasing variety of general practice medicine work in New South Wales, including with the indigenous, at New Zealand locums for two years and ten years sailing the South Pacific on a mission vessel.
She has been in Queensland since 1990 doing general practice work, counseling and writing Words of Wisdom articles for www.chaplain.org.au.
Since 1999, she has been doing bio-dentical hormone replacement therapy and since 2005 is also a cancer support doctor.
Four years ago Dr Ruth had her own difficult choice to make regarding a breast cancer diagnosis.
She chose not to take the surgery offered but continues to take a natural treatment route for her own health.
